There’s always time for snacks! Even if you have 3 meals a day at times the cravings are such that you need an instant snack that’s super easy and awesomely delicious. The favorite snack of mine, has to be a hot cup of Chai (Tea) and some biscuits/crackers to go with. The satisfaction you get from dunking a biscuit in a hot cup of chai is in-explainable yet immense. And when you have Peek Freans Butter Puff it’s a whole pleasurable snacking experience.

There’s always a pack of Butter Puff Crackers in our snacks cupboard and we all enjoy having it at tea-time at home, so when they introduced the Veggie Crackers I had to try it. When I got the pack and had the first bite, the taste felt soo good and it reminded of a similar taste I had before. A few more bites and it clicked that it tastes just like herb garlic bread and boy! what a treat this was. So flavorful, flaky, rich and just perfect snacking goodness. Since that day it has become my favorite flavor other than their Original Crackers.

The best thing about these is you can have them as-is or be creative and come up with exciting ways to spice-up your snacks. Butter Puff recently introduced some delicious Gourmet Treats with unique topper creations. You can get some inspiration from Peek Freans Butter Puff page for delicious treats. Chicken Biryani

  • By
  • August 27, 2015
A rice dish from the sub-continent that no other dish can match in grandeur, rich flavors and taste is Biryani. It is a royal dish prepared with myriad of spices, absorbing the rich flavors from the meat and the aromatic rice that makes it elegant and supremely royal.

Since it’s introduction to the Indian sub-continent by the Mughals, Biryani today has taken many forms owing to different regions of India, Arabia and Persia. All these varieties have distinct flavors and a unique taste blended with their local cultures but the royalty of the dish remains the same. The word Biryani is said to be originated from a Persian word “birian” meaning “fried before cooking” (How that is related to biryani, nobody knows).

Traditionally there are two methods of preparing biryani, 1- Kachha (Urdu word for Raw), where the meat are rice are cooked together and  2- Pakka (Urdu word for Cooked), where meat and rice are pre-cooked and then layered together. Though Biryani has many variations however the cooking technique remains the same. It is prepared by layering rice and meat along with the fragrant spices and then cooked on low fire called Dum (urdu for steam) that helps in absorbing and infusing all the flavors together into a royal treat. The Biryani recipe I’m sharing today is of pre-cooked meat and rice, the Pakka method of cooking.
Cooking Biryani does seem like a daunting task and one needs to be a culinary perfectionist to make it perfect. Well, it is challenging to cook Biryani as it involves a lot of steps, innumerable spices, perfectly cooked rice and tender, flavorful meat. I’ve seen my mother doing it all by herself (making her own biryani spices) and the Biryani she makes is the best! It has all the aromatic spices, long grains of rice and perfectly cooked meat and serves it with Mint Raita and salad.
I love the Biryani my mother makes and would love to share her recipe sometime with all the home made spices, but my version of Biryani uses a Biryani Mix (Thanks to the brands for introducing this biryani magic in our lives and making it so much easier for us) and it tasted equally delicious (Ok, not equally but really delicious).
Get over your fear of making Biryani with this easy and delicious recipe. Ready to impress? Let’s get cooking (And, you can thank me later by commenting below :D)

The Fabulous Birthday

  • By
  • August 24, 2015
It was my Birthday last Friday and I can proudly say it has been a Fabulous One! Still in my twenties (enjoying another year of being in the 20’s and not feeling so old yet) the excitement for the birthday was the same as I used to have as a kid. That excitement coupled with fun, laughter, happiness and love made it an extra special one.

I love dressing up for my birthday and like every year I decide in advance what I’ll be wearing, what kind of look I’ll go with, what kind of accessories I need and just-everything. This year was no different, I was looking for something orange to add to my summer’s wardrobe and that’s when I came across this gorgeous kurta from Origins-Ready to Wear (see here). The makeup was the usual but I added a pop of color to the eyes and wore a bright coral lipstick shade, and just loved the look. (I’ll do another post with all the details on what I wore on my birthday).

If you’re following me on Facebook you’ll know that me and my sister share the same birthday but were born years apart and we aren’t twins technically but call ourselves Birthday Twins (because we share the same birthday). So the first one’s to wish us is US and our parents of course. This 21st Aug the day was beautiful, birthday excitement was there, dressing up excitement was there and getting birthday wishes and love from Parents made a great start to the day.
And from there the day just got better and awesome and fabulous. Upon reaching work, I was surprised by two starry balloons tied to my chair. That was an adorable gesture and I completely loved it (I love balloons btw) and then we all had Chocobons from Cinnabon for breakfast. It was a fun-filled, chocolicious start of day at work. I’ve got an amazing bunch of people at work, who so lovingly planned it for me and I totally-totally loved it.
and then later in the evening celebrated birthday with the entire office and we all enjoyed the Chocolate cake from Nando’s – that’s a favorite!
God was kind too, the weather in the afternoon got cloudy and it rained till late in the evening. One of my friend’s said, “You poured heavily on us on your birthday” (LOL)
My parents and sister had already planned a BBQ dinner for our birthday, the Leo’s that we are, we both love BBQ! I had my friends over too. Some birthday decor, lighting and props were also arranged that made the birthday much more fun. We all had a photography session where my sister took some really crazy pictures of us. We all laughed till our tummies hurt on our craziness and random jokes but we all had great fun.
The cake was elegant and feminine in pink with a white sugar flower on the top. It was simple, elegant and so delicious, my sister and I both loved it. It was again one of our favorite cake’s from Kitchen Cuisine – Chocolate Fudge Cake.
Enjoyed every bit of it and that all has been added to beautiful memories which will be cherished forever. Feel so blessed to have such wonderful, amazing and fabulous people in my life!
I received a lot of birthday wishes on Facebook, Instagram, through texts, calls and emails. I’m immensely humbled and would like to thank each any everyone of you for remembering it and wishing me. You all made my birthday a Fabulous Birthday! one that I’ll never forget.
Thank you for making me feel special on my day.
Much Love <3

Natural Wonders: Lemon & Honey Face Mask

  • By
  • August 19, 2015
Who doesn’t love fresh, glowing, beautiful skin? Specially when you’re in your 20’s and 30’s you definitely want to take better care of your skin (of course 40’s and above included). While monthly facials are a thing, but not everyone can afford monthly salon services. So if you’re looking for ways to keep your skin soft, fresh and clean then this Homemade (& Natural) Lemon & Honey Face Mask is all you need.

This super easy, effective and affordable face mask made with only two ingredients is a perfect facial treatment at home. The ingredients that are likely to be in your kitchen at all times, can help soothe, heal and even out your skin tone. Isn’t that genius?

I have been experimenting with homemade face masks lately and that’s when I started these Natural Wonders series on the blog. I’ve used homemade Miracle face mask (read here) to combat acne and have absolutely loved the results. So when I was trying this one I was expecting equally good results right away, as this Lemon & Honey Face Mask uses Honey that is a natural antioxidant and antibacterial agent that absorbs impurities from the skin and Lemons are filled with AHA’s and BHA’s (alien terms alert!) Alpha hydroxy acids and Beta hydroxy acids which makes lemons a great natural exfoliate, rich in vitamin C that helps in skin brightening and exfoliation.
In one line, this face mask makes your skin look young, smooth, radiant, acne free, even toned and beautiful!
Here how to make this Natural Lemon & Honey Face Mask:
Things you’ll need
  • 2 Tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 lemon
  • In a bowl squeeze lemon, add honey and mix with a spoon until it’s liquid in consistency
  • Clean your face and pat dry. keep your hair pulled back from your face as the mask will be sticky
  •  Apply the mask on your face avoiding the eye area
  • Let your skin soak all the natural wonders for 15-20 minutes
  •  Rinse off with cold water and gently pat dry your skin
  •  Apply your favorite moisturizer and enjoy beautiful glowing skin
I use this mask at night, once a week because I feel night time is actually the best time to make the skin breathe and when you wake up in the morning you’ve beautiful, smooth and clean skin.

If you try this, let me know how it works for you! And, if you have any skincare suggestions, leave me a comment!

Sparkly 14th Aug Nails – Step-by-Step

  • By
  • August 11, 2015
We are only 3 days away from 14th August, Independence Day celebrations and can feel the enthusiasm in the people. Every place has turned green and white, there are Independence day special discounts and Independence day special collections have also hit the stores. I already have bought my special Kurta for Independence day (which I’ll reveal later sometime) and decided to do some Independence Day Nail Art to go with it.

This Nail Art is super easy and so wearable. With only 4 nail products you can achieve this nail art in just no time at all and can flaunt your sparkly nails. As this one’s an Independence Day Special post so the nail colors had to be green and white but then I added some glitter on it to give it some bling and loved how sparkly and pretty it turned out.

It’s just one simple trick and for that you need to be a Mani Pro to get fancy looking set of nails. Give it a try (in your choice of colors perhaps) and if you’re really cool (which you definitely are) you’ll share the picture of your sparkly nail art in the comments below.
Lets get started:
Things you’ll Need
  • Green polish
  • White polish
  • Green Glitter polish
  • Clear Top Coat
  • Makeup sponge

Step 1: Apply Green polish on nails including thumb, except the ring finger.

Step 2: Apply white nail polish on the ring finger nail. You can alternate green and white nail color on the fingers too.
Step-3-Nail-Art-TicklethosetastebudsStep 3: Here’s the little trick we talked about and why I said we’ll be using a make sponge. Apply glitter nail polish to the corner of the make sponge. While its still wet dab it on to the white nail color near the bed of the nail. Dab as much to make the glitter dense and as sparkly you want it to be.
Step 4: Apply a clear top coat immediately to smooth out the glitter. Apply to the other nails as well to give it a more finished look. I also applied a little star on the corner of my glittered nail.
And that’s the final look. Pretty simple right? Give it a try and tell me how much you love it.

Products Used: Green Nail Polish – Golden Rose Rich Nail Lacquer in No. 18,  White Nail Polish – Flormar Pretty in P03, Top Coat – Golden Rose Paris clear top coat, Green Glitter Polish – Golden Rose Jolly Jewels in No. 107

Healthy Breakfast | Chia Pudding with Peaches

  • By
  • August 10, 2015
Superfoods are all the rage these days, with their magical properties they are to provide super health benefits which we normally don’t get from the kind of foods we eat everyday. With so much hype around these, when I came across Chia Seeds I was a bit skeptical in trying them out but then Chia Pudding was something that made me try it. In which I was only concentrating on the pudding part of it.

And I was surprised at how amazing this pudding turned out to be, it was not only filling it tasted great too and these little seeds became my best-friends since then. I’m a kind of person who skips breakfast easily, that’s one bad habit that I have and on days when I do have breakfast its only a glass of milk, which doesn’t keep you filled for a good 5-6 hours.
So adding chia seeds to the milk was a super idea for a person like me. Often people confuse chia seeds with basil seeds (in urdu: Tukh Malanga) which are quite similar looking with a very little difference in shape but both the seeds have super health benefits. However there is a huge difference in consuming them, while Chia seeds can be consumed both raw or soaked, basil seeds can only be consumed soaked and can’t be eaten raw at all. Now you know the difference, don’t confuse these two!
It’s summer season and my favorite fruit Peaches are available so these had to be used in this pudding. Like I used my favorite fruit in it, you can use your favorite fruit bananas, strawberries, mangoes or any other fruit and believe me you’ll love this pudding as much as I did.
Prepared with only 5 ingredients, requires 2-3 minutes preps, make ahead (overnight) and enjoy the next day. Its the best thing to have in breakfast and for people like me who skip breakfast, it’ll make you have breakfast everyday. It’s that good. It’ll keep you filled for 5-6 hours easily, will give you an energy boost and is an easy way to boost your fiber and omega-3 intake too. It’s really good for weight-watchers and is an ultimate food for dieters and people who want to lose weight. Just sprinkle some over the salad, add in a soup, make a pudding and eat it in whatever way you like.
Prepare it, try it and enjoy the creamy, healthy, delicious Chia Pudding with your favorite fruits. You can also check out this post for another superfood that I tried and absolutely loved.
I used milled Chia Seeds for this recipe that were from Linwoods Pakistan and are easily available in grocery stores.

Fab Grab: Azadi Special Favorites

  • By
  • August 7, 2015
PAKISTAN is turning 68 on 14th August this year and I’m super excited. As soon as the month of August begins I turn overly patriotic (not that I’m not patriotic all other months), I just feel that way in August particularly because it’s Independence Month + My Birthday Month, so good enough reason for me to be excited.

The entire nation is in full Jashan-e-Azadi (Independence day) spirit. From the 1st of August people set up stalls on streets, markets and on corners of the roads selling Pakistan flags, badges, small paper flags (jhandia), stickers and other independence day special merchandise. It’s actually so much fun, as the cities start turning green and white in every way, from illuminated buildings to waving National Flags atop houses and buildings. At night its a beautifully lit sight, homes and buildings illuminated with fairy lights in national colors (green & white) is Simply Stunning!
Another attraction is the special Independence Day collections introduced by different brands on these occasions. Out of the many products that I came across this year, this Painted National Flag with National Anthem by Pith was love at first sight, like literally.
Aren’t these amazing? I love these Flag Prints with National Anthem. These are available in 2 sizes, Small (12×16) and Large (31×61) the perfect size to give your walls some patriotic color. These are very reasonably priced at Rs. 1200 and Rs. 3100 so grab this fast , just like I did!
Pith also has really fabulous Independence day products collection check them all out here
Another product that stole my heart was this truck-art designed digital print cushion by Fray Design Studio from their Independence day special collection.
I was totally sold on the design, the color scheme and how beautifully the Minar-e-Pakistan stands there. As they say “Lahore Lahore Aye” and for a true and proud Lahori, that I am this had to become mine. It’s priced at Rs. 1500 and can be purchased from Fray Design Studio’s Facebook Page here
They’ve got a whole lot of products from art-prints to cushions, t-shirts to tea coasters, from notebooks to phone covers all items very unique and amazing.
I enjoy the whole Azadi spirit, you get to see so much enthusiasm in every individual and the love they hold for their country.
I’m proud to be a Pakistani!
What are your favorite Independence Day Special products this year?
