Autumn Autumn Lipsticks Beauty Beauty Crush Beauty Reviews Fab Grab Fall Fall Lipsticks Fall Shades Lipstick Makeup My kind of makeup

Favorite Autumn Lipsticks

Autumn, the season of change brings with it cool weather which means it’s the time of the year for knitted jumpers, cozy scarfs and spiced lattes. But, for makeup enthusiasts this transitional season brings something more exciting – new makeup products and skin care routine! Changing the makeup to the season palette is just like adding a new piece to your wardrobe – preparing for the season and just being on the trend.
The one makeup product that changes for me with the season is the Lipstick. I just love the fact that how one thing (a lipstick) can completely transform your look from drab to fab!

The thing that concerns me the most during this transitional season is how my skin behaves. I have dry skin so I’m mostly looking out for products that keep my skin moistened and hydrated. With the lipstick trends when it comes to pulling off the right shade, matte finish lipstick trend might not be the best one for people like me who get chapped and dry lips in autumn/winter easily.

While lip exfoliation and using lip balm is an option for smotth application of lipsticks but I’m the kind of person who’d rather choose a formula that would keep the lips moisturized and won’t enhance any cracks. The best lipsticks that I have found and are my favorite this Autumn are by Estée Lauder from their Pure Envy Sculpting Lipstick Collection.
What makes these Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks my favorite is the formula. This range of lipsticks is formulated with time-release moisture complex with hyaluronic acid that helps capture and infuse hydration leaving the lips soft and moisturized. Making these lipsticks a must-have for Autumn/Fall season.
The lipsticks are highly pigmented, glides on easily and covers lips fully in just one swipe. The texture is smooth and creamy but light. It has a satin-finish and a very comfortable texture that you won’t even know you’re wearing something. The shades have a good staying power and can last from 4-6 hours depending on the shade. It is a bit transferable but not like it’ll completely come off.
I also really like the shape of the lipstick bullet, the way it is sculpted. It makes the application very easy covering the lips fully. You don’t even need a lip pencil with these lipsticks. Theses have a sweet, vanilla scent and no taste at all and come in a luxurious gold and navy case with magnetic closure.
Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks are available in 21 shades ranging from nudes to browns, pinks to berries, corals to reds and mauves to plums. My favorites for the Autumn Season are from each category category, almost.
The first shade is Estee Lauder Pure Color Sculpting Lipstick Intense Nude in number 130. This shade is a mid-tone rosy neutral. Comes from the Nudes to Browns category. It has warm undertones but is more on the pink-brown nude side which makes it a perfect nude shade for me. While Nude Shade is very personal to each person, I think this one is the perfect shade for me.
It’s a very everyday kind of a shade which you can wear to work or just every day. The texture is light and creamy, it doesn’t accentuate any cracks on the lips. With it’s luminous finish and rich, opaque coverage this lipstick shade has become my everyday go-to lipstick.
For more dramatic and bold lips we have Vengeful Red in shade 350. It is a perfect crimson red, is vibrant with a luminous sheen just what a red lipstick shade should be like. With it’s full opaque coverage the lipstick glides on beautifully giving you fuller lips for a curvious pout.
The color has a strong staying power and after 4-5 hours it leaves a stain making your lips look tinted and that’s what I absolutely love about this shade.
Shade Dynamic  in number 410  is from the mauves and plums family but the shade is more on a muted, dusty rose side. It has coral undertone making it more like a mid-tone warm neutral shade. Because it has rosy coral undertones this shade look beautiful when applied.
It’s not really nude but gives a kick of color on your lips making them appear fuller. It’s again an everyday kind of a shade and is work appropriate too. You can build up the color to intensify the shade a bit but it looks very natural as it is too.
Here are the watches of the all 3 shades from  Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick collection. Overall I’m really impressed with the formula and wear-ability of these lipsticks. These are a bit pricey but are so much worth the investment.
These are easy to wear, come in so many shades and keep your lips supple and hydrated.

Have you tried any of the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks? What is your favorite shade from the collection?

Do you have any Autumn Favorite Lipsticks?
Do give these lipsticks a try this season. You won’t be dissapointed, I promise.

3 Japhiyan Advertising Eid NestleFruitaVitals Press Ramadan Reviews Siblingbond Sip Positive TVC

Nestlé Fruita Vitals – The Sibling Bond

Nestlé Fruita Vitals giving a whole new meaning to 3 japhiyan this Eid. In their latest TVC Nestlé Fruita Vitals touches the right chords for all those who have siblings abroad, who anxiously wait for them on Eid, for the union and celebrations together.

The sibling bond is very beautifully presented in the TVC where the elder brother surprises the family by visiting on Eid and the younger brother is all so upset with him. We can all so relate to the complaints the younger brother has, not liking Facebook posts (we all have issues, don’t we?) not attending calls, not being there with the family on last Eid.
The concept of 3 japhiyan is again depicted in a beautiful way and with a beautiful message. No matter how upset you are with your sibling – just hug it out, the bond you share is precious than all the complaints and most importantly a hug fixes everything.
The lyrics are paired beautifully with the concept “dil nahin bhoolta dil ka yeh rasta” and we see the mother is happy and teary eyed seeing the love and bond his boys share.  It ends with the family on table having a good time and the elder brother being the elder brother annoying the younger one (so relatable). This TVC does justice to the brands concept of adding sweetness and affection to relationships “karwahat mein mithas”
There is no happiness greater than having your loved ones with you on occasions like Eid. If your sibling lives abroad and you have similar complaints, when they visit don’t forget to give them 3 japhiyan this Eid!
The brand, the creatives have done a great job in presenting an awesome concept depicting the sibling bond. The concept is paired perfectly with beautiful lyrics and enticing production value.
If you haven’t watched this awesome TVC yet, watch it now and share with your siblings.

Firni – Pakistani Rice Pudding with Nutty Caramel Discs

Firni-Pakistani-Rice-Pudding-TTTB
Pakistani desserts are the star of every meal. They are rich in taste, texture and flavors. I love desserts of all kinds but our Desi Desserts are my favorite. From Gur walay Chawal (Jagger Rice) to Zarda (sweet rice), Ras Malai to Rass Gullah, Suji Halwa to Gajar Halwa, Firni to Rabri, Seviyan (roasted vermicelli) to Mithai (sweets) each dessert dish is unique and tastes delicious. Out of all the desi desserts my favorites are Shahi Tukda  and  Firni.

Firni or Phirni is a rice pudding made with ground rice. It’s infused with the flavors of cardamom and saffron. The creamy and smooth texture, speckled with slivered nuts, is what makes Firni and enticing dish. Firni however is different from Kheer (another rice dish) as kheer is made used whole Basmati rice whereas for Firni ground rice is used. In Pakistan, Firni is both an everyday and a a festive dish and is traditionally served in un-glazed terracotta bowls called “thoothi” which gives Firni a subtle earthy flavor.

I remember, whenever my mother used to ask what we’d like for dessert, my reply was either Shahi Tukda or Firni – I love it that much. So contuning with the Fun, Creative and Delicious Rice Recipes, this recipe was prepared using  Reem ka Steam Basmati Rice. I have been really impressed with the quality of the rice. It’s long grain and fragrant rice, the quality everyone looks for in good quality rice. My family has already switched to  Reem ka Steam Rice.

To make Firni look a bit fancy, I added Nutty Caramel Discs to top this delicacy. The caramel discs are made of nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachio) and caramelized sugar. It’s rich with nuts and adds a crunchy texture to the rich and creamy Firni. Everyone loved the addition of Nutty Caramel Discs to the traditional Firni, a great way to impress everyone with your culinary skills. It also made Firni look more festive and even more delicious.

Rice Olaf Lunch Box for Kids

  • By
  • January 8, 2018

Packing lunch for kids is the most hectic job, especially when you have picky eaters it gets even more difficult to pack lunch that your kid will eat. Every day moms are struggling with ways to Jazz up the lunch box so that it doesn’t come back home, full (not eaten).  As part of the series on the blog Fun, Creative and Delicious Rice Recipes, I took the challenge to come up with a creative yet delicious lunch option for kids and here it is OlafLunch box.

Japanese Bento-lunch box have always fascinated me and I so wanted to try making it. With this series I got that opportunity and it was so much fun doing it.  Learning new techniques and methods of cooking or doing things makes you feel so good. In a Japanese Bento Box you pack different into items in a compartmentalized box. This way you get variety of food options in a box.  Lunch box doesn’t always have to be sandwich, it can be rice too. And when it’s your kid’s favorite character, lunch gets even more exciting.

Movie Frozen is the most loved movies of all. While all the characters are a favorite, Olaf is a loved a little more. At first I was a bit nervous in making the Olaf thinking it won’t turn out perfect but with Reem ka Steam BasmatiRice it was so easy. This long grain, fragrant rice is so easy to cook and was even easier to handle while making Olaf.
It was a moment of achievement when the rice Olaf turned out perfect. The rice was flavored using chicken broth so that it tastes good. The omelet hearts, sausage snowflakes, chicken nuggets and berries complete the box. All ingredients were from the kitchen pantry. The face details of Olaf were supposed to be made with Sushi Nori Sheets but I didn’t have them so used paper instead, to complete the look (don’t add paper to the lunch box – this was for photography purpose only).
This Olaf Lunch box is sure to put smile on faces and kids would finish the box for sure. Jazz-up the lunch box, make rice Olaf, bear or any of the favorite character using  Reemka Steam Rice and keep your kids fueled all day with creative and nutritious meal.

Vegetable Stuffed Rice Balls

  • By
  • January 1, 2018
Got left-over rice? Let’s give it a new delicious twist. Sounds great, right? As part of the series of recipes with Rice that are creative, fun and delicious, this recipe of Vegetable Stuffed Rice Balls is not only delicious but is an awesome way to use those left-over rice and turn them into crispy and flavorful snack.

Inspired by the Italian favorite Arancini (Italian Rice balls) that are made with Risotto (Arborio rice, an Italian rice variety), these Vegetable Stuffed Rice Balls are made with Basmati Rice. I’ve used Reem ka Steam Basmati Rice for creating this recipe. I had so much fun working on rice recipes and specially with Reem ka Steam Rice as the rice quality is great. It’s long grain rice, fragrant and takes less time to cook too.

What makes these rice balls even more exciting is the stuffing. The crisp outside, soft creamy inside with colorful vegetables, the combination is delicious. The breadcrumbs give the added crunch to it, making it even more crispier. I’ve used vegetables as stuffing for rice balls, you can use meat, cheese or any kind of stuffing as per your liking. You can be as creative as you want and go according to your taste palette.

If you like this recipe, check out other ones on the series Rice Recipes here and here.

Rice Soup with Chicken (Thai Style)

  • By
  • December 12, 2017
Rice Soup or Khao Tom in Thai language is a staple in Thailand eaten for breakfast or as a late-night meal. I always wanted to make it but had been waiting for winter season because this soup is packed with flavors I really wanted to enjoy it to the fullest in the cold season. With rice, chicken, peanuts and Thai chilies, this Rice Soup is “Comfort in a bowl”

What I like the most about this soup is that it is prepared with simple ingredients. The flavors from aromatic lemon grass and ginger gives this soup a very distinct and refreshing lemony taste, that I love the most. It’s such a perfect bowl for winter season to keep you warm and helps specially when you’ve got the cold or flu. A bowl of this rice soup is so welcoming and comforting when you’ve had a long day, it refreshes you.
For this recipe I used Reem ka Steam Rice which came true to it’s description. Fragrant, aromatic long grain rice. Each grain was separate when cooked. These came out just perfect as cooked rice should be.

There are different cooking methods when it comes to making this Rice Soup. It’s either made by cooking the rice separately and then adding to soup or by cooking the rice in the Chicken stock. I used the first method and prepared this soup in two steps: (i) Cooking the rice separately (ii) preparing the Soup. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and absolutely love the flavors. I didn’t get a chance to try the authentic Rice soup in Thailand, when I was there last year. I’m definitely having it whenever I’m there next, to taste the authentic flavor.

Enjoy a bowl of this Rice Soup with chicken (Thai Style) this winter and cozy up!

Going Liquid Matte with Affordable Lipsticks

  • By
  • November 14, 2017
Liquid Matte lipsticks are all the rage these days. It’s that trend everyone is obsessed with right now and is definitely here to stay. Every high-end and drugstore brand has launched their version of liquid matte lipsticks in such fabulous shades that you just cant stop yourself from buying one or two or may be all. While we love to own products from our favorite brands, coming across an affordable option is always exciting. If you saw my Insta stories from a few days, you know I came across some really affordable, long-wear liquid lipsticks that dry matte.

Review and Swatches

Packaging:

The lipstick comes in a sturdy bottle similar in size to NYX cosmetics matte lip cream. The bottle is simple with a black cap on the top and the brand name on the front, nothing fancy. The applicator wand has flat edges which makes it so much easier to use and line your lips using the flat side before filling them for that perfect pout.

Shades:

I purchased four shades only to try out. There are a lot of shades available in these lipsticks. Because I was thinking more about the winter season so I chose shades according to that.

Shade 212: is a gorgeous brown shade and it gives that winter dark lips feel

Shade 216: it’s a really nice maroon-pink shade

Shade 215: this one is a burnt orange shade

Shade 214: is a bright coral-pink shade. This one has become my favorite shade.

Value:

These lipsticks are available at a super affordable rate of Rs. 295. In purchased these from Colour Collection Beauty Store in DHA, Lahore. It was totally an impulse buy when I saw the store staff sorting these lipsticks. Lipsticks are very reasonable compared to other drugstore brands available. I’m happy with the price point.

Scent:

The lipstick has no scent at all which I think is a plus!

Formula:

The formula of these lipsticks is creamy but not mousse or velvet lip creams like.  Unlike most matte lipsticks these ones don’t make your lips crack or dry at all. It dries out quickly but is slightly transferable but would stay on lips for good 8 hours. It is really easy to apply using the applicator and only one swipe is needed to achieve complete opacity.

Results:

These are really comfortable to wear. Before trying these lipsticks on the lips I did test them on my hand and was satisfied as it did not irritate my skin at all. These liquid lipsticks are quite long-lasting, having them on I have had food and drinks and it does not fade much, it’s not noticeable at all.

Verdict:

Pros:

  • Long-lasting
  • Non-Drying
  • Highly Pigmented
  • Has a lot of shades to choose from
  • It’s super affordable

Cons:

  • Slightly transferable

 Will I buy it again?

Considering the price and the quality, absolutely YES!

Where to Buy?

I got these lipsticks from Colour Collection in DHA, Lahore. I’m not sure if these are available at other stores.

Have you tried these lipsticks before? Are there other super affordable liquid matte lipsticks that you have tried, tell us about them. We’d love to try them out 💟
