Favorite Autumn Lipsticks

Autumn, the season of change brings with it cool weather which means it’s the time of the year for knitted jumpers, cozy scarfs and spiced lattes. But, for makeup enthusiasts this transitional season brings something more exciting – new makeup products and skin care routine! Changing the makeup to the season palette is just like adding a new piece to your wardrobe – preparing for the season and just being on the trend.
The one makeup product that changes for me with the season is the Lipstick. I just love the fact that how one thing (a lipstick) can completely transform your look from drab to fab!

The thing that concerns me the most during this transitional season is how my skin behaves. I have dry skin so I’m mostly looking out for products that keep my skin moistened and hydrated. With the lipstick trends when it comes to pulling off the right shade, matte finish lipstick trend might not be the best one for people like me who get chapped and dry lips in autumn/winter easily.

While lip exfoliation and using lip balm is an option for smotth application of lipsticks but I’m the kind of person who’d rather choose a formula that would keep the lips moisturized and won’t enhance any cracks. The best lipsticks that I have found and are my favorite this Autumn are by Estée Lauder from their Pure Envy Sculpting Lipstick Collection.
What makes these Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks my favorite is the formula. This range of lipsticks is formulated with time-release moisture complex with hyaluronic acid that helps capture and infuse hydration leaving the lips soft and moisturized. Making these lipsticks a must-have for Autumn/Fall season.
The lipsticks are highly pigmented, glides on easily and covers lips fully in just one swipe. The texture is smooth and creamy but light. It has a satin-finish and a very comfortable texture that you won’t even know you’re wearing something. The shades have a good staying power and can last from 4-6 hours depending on the shade. It is a bit transferable but not like it’ll completely come off.
I also really like the shape of the lipstick bullet, the way it is sculpted. It makes the application very easy covering the lips fully. You don’t even need a lip pencil with these lipsticks. Theses have a sweet, vanilla scent and no taste at all and come in a luxurious gold and navy case with magnetic closure.
Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks are available in 21 shades ranging from nudes to browns, pinks to berries, corals to reds and mauves to plums. My favorites for the Autumn Season are from each category category, almost.
The first shade is Estee Lauder Pure Color Sculpting Lipstick Intense Nude in number 130. This shade is a mid-tone rosy neutral. Comes from the Nudes to Browns category. It has warm undertones but is more on the pink-brown nude side which makes it a perfect nude shade for me. While Nude Shade is very personal to each person, I think this one is the perfect shade for me.
It’s a very everyday kind of a shade which you can wear to work or just every day. The texture is light and creamy, it doesn’t accentuate any cracks on the lips. With it’s luminous finish and rich, opaque coverage this lipstick shade has become my everyday go-to lipstick.
For more dramatic and bold lips we have Vengeful Red in shade 350. It is a perfect crimson red, is vibrant with a luminous sheen just what a red lipstick shade should be like. With it’s full opaque coverage the lipstick glides on beautifully giving you fuller lips for a curvious pout.
The color has a strong staying power and after 4-5 hours it leaves a stain making your lips look tinted and that’s what I absolutely love about this shade.
Shade Dynamic  in number 410  is from the mauves and plums family but the shade is more on a muted, dusty rose side. It has coral undertone making it more like a mid-tone warm neutral shade. Because it has rosy coral undertones this shade look beautiful when applied.
It’s not really nude but gives a kick of color on your lips making them appear fuller. It’s again an everyday kind of a shade and is work appropriate too. You can build up the color to intensify the shade a bit but it looks very natural as it is too.
Here are the watches of the all 3 shades from  Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick collection. Overall I’m really impressed with the formula and wear-ability of these lipsticks. These are a bit pricey but are so much worth the investment.
These are easy to wear, come in so many shades and keep your lips supple and hydrated.

Have you tried any of the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks? What is your favorite shade from the collection?

Do you have any Autumn Favorite Lipsticks?
Do give these lipsticks a try this season. You won’t be dissapointed, I promise.

Going Liquid Matte with Affordable Lipsticks

  • By
  • November 14, 2017
Liquid Matte lipsticks are all the rage these days. It’s that trend everyone is obsessed with right now and is definitely here to stay. Every high-end and drugstore brand has launched their version of liquid matte lipsticks in such fabulous shades that you just cant stop yourself from buying one or two or may be all. While we love to own products from our favorite brands, coming across an affordable option is always exciting. If you saw my Insta stories from a few days, you know I came across some really affordable, long-wear liquid lipsticks that dry matte.

Review and Swatches

The lipstick comes in a sturdy bottle similar in size to NYX cosmetics matte lip cream. The bottle is simple with a black cap on the top and the brand name on the front, nothing fancy. The applicator wand has flat edges which makes it so much easier to use and line your lips using the flat side before filling them for that perfect pout.

I purchased four shades only to try out. There are a lot of shades available in these lipsticks. Because I was thinking more about the winter season so I chose shades according to that.

Shade 212: is a gorgeous brown shade and it gives that winter dark lips feel

Shade 216: it’s a really nice maroon-pink shade

Shade 215: this one is a burnt orange shade

Shade 214: is a bright coral-pink shade. This one has become my favorite shade.

These lipsticks are available at a super affordable rate of Rs. 295. In purchased these from Colour Collection Beauty Store in DHA, Lahore. It was totally an impulse buy when I saw the store staff sorting these lipsticks. Lipsticks are very reasonable compared to other drugstore brands available. I’m happy with the price point.

The lipstick has no scent at all which I think is a plus!

The formula of these lipsticks is creamy but not mousse or velvet lip creams like.  Unlike most matte lipsticks these ones don’t make your lips crack or dry at all. It dries out quickly but is slightly transferable but would stay on lips for good 8 hours. It is really easy to apply using the applicator and only one swipe is needed to achieve complete opacity.

These are really comfortable to wear. Before trying these lipsticks on the lips I did test them on my hand and was satisfied as it did not irritate my skin at all. These liquid lipsticks are quite long-lasting, having them on I have had food and drinks and it does not fade much, it’s not noticeable at all.

  • Long-lasting
  • Non-Drying
  • Highly Pigmented
  • Has a lot of shades to choose from
  • It’s super affordable

  • Slightly transferable

 Will I buy it again?

Considering the price and the quality, absolutely YES!

Where to Buy?

I got these lipsticks from Colour Collection in DHA, Lahore. I’m not sure if these are available at other stores.

Have you tried these lipsticks before? Are there other super affordable liquid matte lipsticks that you have tried, tell us about them. We’d love to try them out 💟

Beauty Crush: The Best Face Mask

  • By
  • April 21, 2017
I tried the best face mask and I couldn’t wait to share my experience. World’s most powerful facial, the raddest product and beauty bloggers favorite – the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. With the increase in skincare trends and so many product options available, it’s very difficult to find a product that actually works. And this Indian Healing Clay is one such product that actually WORKS!

I’m sure you must have read reviews on it from your favorite bloggers as well, but everyone has a different experience to share, right? So the very obvious things we already know about a great face mask are that it purifies your skin (deep cleanses), makes it glow, makes you feel relaxed and you can actually feel that your skin is more fresh.
For a person like me who has sensitive skin and does not experiment much with products on the face, trying this Indian Healing Clay was a task (read: risk). Because not every skin type is the same and even if you read hundred’s of reviews on a product it won’t necessarily mean that it’ll be the best one for you as well. Skin Care is an investment, more like a gift from you to yourself, it demands attention and care that is only achievable with the right kind of products for your skin.
This clay is made from 100% natural Calcium Bentonite that comes from aged deposits of volcanic ashes. There is a bit of science involved in what makes this clay such a powerful mask that can draw out impurities from the skin and “make it pulsate”. The clay naturally carries a negative electron charge while all the toxins and impurities on our skin have a positive charge. So essentially when you put it on the skin it attracts all the impurities from the skin, leaving behind calcium and making your skin clear, smooth and glowing like never before!
The instructions on the back of the clay tub said that you need to mix it with Raw Apple Cider Vinegar or water. Going with the cult status I opted to try it out with Apple Cider Vinegar. There is again some science involved here relating to skin and pH levels (you can google that up) that makes both the clay and vinegar the two products that work so well together.
I was very nervous to try it out on my skin, for the fact that it’s really sensitive. But I had to try it. So in a non-metal bowl and with a non-metal spoon I added 1 tablespoon of the clay powder in the bowl and then 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar, and it started to fizzle (looked a lot like a science experiment going on ). When mixed it turned into a smooth paste.
Using an application brush, I applied the clay on my face and let it dry for 15-20 minutes. When it started drying it felt tightening on the skin. When it completely dried I just washed it off with luke warm water. For first time it might feel like a struggle taking it off but the key here is to pat water on your face to dampen the mask and then wash it off or as an alternate you can use damp towel to remove it from the face.
After removing the mask when I looked at my face in the mirror, I was like Wow! The face looked so much clean, pores minimized and felt so fresh too. There was some redness but for only a little time. I did apply a moisturizer afterwards. With this kind of result I have to admit, I love this face mask! I use it every 2 weeks, because of my sensitive skin I don’t use it much often. I even tried it on my mother and she loved the results too.
There is another reason to love this mask and that is it’s affordable too. I got mine from this Facebook page You Dream We Deliver you can message them here and got Apple Cider Vinegar from Al-Fatah store.
Have you tried it? Share your experience with us in comments below on how did it feel and did it work for your skin type?

Essence Glow Must Go On Palette Review + Makeup Look

  • By
  • March 16, 2017

Essence Cosmetics Pakistan recently introduced amazing makeup palettes in collaboration with four beauty bloggers. In my previous post (here) I shared all the details about the palettes but didn’t reveal my favorite one out of all four. Well, it’s no surprise my favorite palette is Glow Must Go On by Serena of beautylab.

Highlighters and bronzers are all the rage these days and this palette is all about that Glow. Packaged in a compact cardboard case with a magnetic closure. The design on the palette is inspired by Moroccan theme, it’s really nice and looks like a mandala or henna design in beautiful shades of brown, white and gold details on the outside and a contrasting brown and Tiffany blue on the inside of the palette around the cute little mirror. Even the inside fold of the palette says “Shine Bright” – told you, this palette is all about that glow.

The contents of the palette are very well thought of and they compliment each other really well with their warm undertones. The palette also has an applicator brush as well, I haven’t used it but having a brush in the palette makes application a lot more convenient.

It comes with a glowing bronzer in the center of the palette, which is amazing, it is being referred to as a dupe to Bobbi brown shimmer brick! I haven’t used the Bobbi brown shimmer brick, so can’t comment on how close this is to it but has very nice shimmer. The highlighter Honey Glow is a perfect pearly white with a hint of gold, just perfect for that radiance on cheek bones this season. The two eye shadows Cinnamon and Sandalwood are nice matte warm shades for that nude look.

The glowing bronzer is absolutely gorgeous. All three can be applied separately or by mixing together. I like to mix them up for a beautiful rose gold shade and use it on my cheeks for that nice glow. These shades can be used as eye-shadows too.

Honey Glow Highlighter in the palette is my favorite, it’s honestly very beautiful. Nice pearly white with a hint of gold makes it so gorgeous. I use it on my cheekbone, inner corner of my eyes and under my brows too. It literally does the job well and I can assure you won’t be able to stop looking at that highlight in the mirror. This one is also said to be a close dupe to Nars Albatross – I’m not sure if it is a dupe, but if it is then at this price it’s amazing. I think Essence should make this into a full-size highlighter and a permanent product of their make up range – It’s that good!
The eyeshadows are nice earthy shades. They’re not too pigmented as matte shades would, but are soft and have little fall out. Cinnamon is less pigmented and you really have to build up the product to create the shade but it goes really well with Sandlwood for an everyday smokey look.
I created this look here with all the products in the palette and found this to be an amazing one for my everyday look.
Overall I think this palette is amazing, you can do so much with it and create different looks by mixing the colors. Also at such an affordable price of Rs. 920, you get dupes for two high-end products – isn’t that amazing? It’s so light in weight that you carry it on the go.
You can buy this palette from Essence Pakistan Facebook page here

Hair Update: The LOB & the Products I’m Loving

I finally made the bold decision to chop off my long locks and hop on the chic LOB (long bob) trend. By now you all must be familiar with this hair lingo LOB, which basically is a long bob hairstyle that can be anywhere between your shoulders and collar bones. I’m absolutely loving my LOB, it’s so hassle-free, low maintenance, gives hair a very healthy feel and is so chic!

The last time I had short hair was during my early university years so cutting my hair short was a difficult decision for me. I took about a month to decide, yes I know that’s pretty long but I took this long because I got balayage on my long hair and just loved it (see here) so I really really wanted to keep it that way, but then I also wanted this neat edged, straight cut bob. But I’m glad I made this decision, LOB is the perfect length for my face and my hair look so much healthier and the grown-out balayage gives it a very nice highlights effect.

Keeping it for almost 2 weeks now I’ve been trying to learn all the ins and outs of styling the short hair and decided to share the products I’m loving on my LOB for anyone who is interested in getting, or has already made the chop.
Volume – LOB looks good when it’s bouncy and the hair has volume. Even for a sleek bob the hair needs volume otherwise it’ll look totally flat. I’ve very fine hair so for me a volumizing shampoo is a must, otherwise my hair start to look flat. I’ve been using this Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Shampoo from quite sometime now and it does wonders for my hair. It actually adds volume to my hair with every wash. This shampoo actually does what it says, adds volume and shine to the hair. I use the one that’s made in UAE, so do check the back of the bottle to see where it’s made.
Soft & Shiny – To keep the hair super soft and to achieve that sleek look I started using this Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Color Care Conditioner with Argan Oil and my o my what an amazing product this is. First, it smells so so good it literally gives you that spa kind of feel, and it stays for long too. As for the conditioner it’s one conditioner that I’m absolutely loving and am totally impressed with. It makes my hair really really soft and tangle-free even if I don’t brush one whole day after washing my hair, even the next day its so easy to brush my hair all because of this conditioner (yes, I try to air dry my hair and try to keep the natural waves, so yes, I do no-hairbrush-days occasionally). How I use it? After shampooing my hair I take a small amount of conditioner and apply it to the ends of my hair, leave it on for 1-2 minutes to settle and then rinse off. Ta da! There you have it super soft, shiny and tangle-free hair
The Oomph – With the Pantene Sheer Volume shampoo and Suave Moroccan Infusion conditioner you get both volume and silky soft hair but to give hair an extra lift, movement and a bit of more texture to the LOB the one product I found that gives the hair the required oomph is this  Loreal TXT Volume Texturizing Spray. This is a steal deal for some very high priced texturizing sprays, this adds and instant body and texture to the LOB, because for a LOB it’s all about being playful and working with textures. So if you’re going for a sleek look or beachy waves, add some oomph to it with Loreal Volume Texturizing Spray, it’s very light on the hair, smells AMAZING and give instant body to the LOB

These are the products I’m loving these days for my new short hair, the Long Bob (aka LOB). Have you tried these? Do you have any favorites or recommendations, share with me by commenting below.

Beauty Crush: The Body Shop Radiant Highlighter

  • By
  • October 1, 2015
The hot new trend on the makeup and fashion scene is Strobing. We’ve all heard about it, seen it and long for that radiant, highlighted face. In fact, to achieve that illuminated and dewy look my latest makeup purchase has been The Body Shop Radiant Highlighter and I already feel like a pro and sometimes with this on I feel like a fashion model with a youthful and radiant glow (I know you did not believe the fashion model thing, but read till the end you’ll start believing :p)

Unlike contouring, strobing is quite simple if you know the technique right. The idea of strobing is not to highlight all parts of the face but to make the necessary emphasis on makeup with a radiant highlighter. And for this particular makeup technique the best product I’ve come across is this Radiant Highlighter by The Body Shop.
The pink liquid when dabbed on skin gives a very nice “sheen” to it, making it look healthy and youthful. I’ve tried this product with my everyday makeup and for parties and functions too and I absolutely love it everytime I see it on me. Of course applying too much of the product can make you look like Tinkerbell but this radiant highlighter just gives you the right kind of sheen where the light hits on your face (Cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, chin and centre of forehead). You won’t believe it, but a pea-sized amount of the highlighter is enough for the face.

Do you see how beautifully it blends with the skin and gives it the radiant highlight? This works for me with my everyday look and even prettier in the evening lights of a party or a dinner. Priced at Rs. 1800 (a bit expensive), this highlighter is worth the purchase. Even if you’re not a professional makeup artist you can still achieve the dewy, radiant and healthy looking skin with this highlighter and as it blends well on skin its suitable for all skin types. For me this is a must-have product now!

Steps to achieve glowing skin with Radiant Highlter

1. Even out your skin with a BB cream or a foundation.
2. Dispense a small amount of the liquid on a makeup sponge or your finger and dab it on the center of your forehead, bridge of the nose, under the eyebrows, cheekbones, cupids bow and chin.
3. Don’t overdo it, you don’t want to look like Tinkerbell, Remember? Excessive amount of highlighter will make the face look oily and fat. Radiance should be barely visible on skin, let the light do the rest for you.

To help you further in achieving the look, watch this video:

One product, simple steps and you’ll SHINE Bright like a DIAMOND! Do share your recommendations for achieving the “radiance”

Beauty Crush: WoW your Brows with Essecne Eyebrow Gel

We’ve all heard the phrase ” Your eyebrows can make you or break you” which is quite true. While we all struggle for the perfect eyebrows, the changing eyebrow shape trends make it difficult to follow since not all of us are blessed with a perfect pair. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make a perfect pair, how we do it? We do it with Essence Eyebrow Gel.

I’ve been on a struggle to have a perfect pair of eyebrows until recently, though at occasions I have tried using pencils and powders for defined eyebrows and to fill in thin and sparse eyebrows but not as a routine. Recently, I came across Essence Eyebrow Gel and thought of giving it a try.. I mean who doesn’t want beautiful, defined, lust-worthy brows? Your eyebrows actually are the focal point of your look and really define your face.
While the trends will continue to change there will always be the need for mastering the technique to get fuller brows.  Achieving bold brows was never too easy, a little grooming and with the right product you can WoW your Brows!  and when the product is budget friendly its a great deal.
Essence-Eyebrow-Gel-Review-TTTB This eyebrow gel from essence in shade brown (01) is a perfect color to suit all types of brows. It comes in a small glass pot and as it says Color & Shape, this gels helps tame unruly brows, emphasizes and defines the brow shape, helps fill in sparse areas for a fuller brows that are also natural looking.
The formula is light and non-sticky, its quick dry with a powdery finish that hold unruly brows in place and offers long-lasting results. It’s quite easy to apply too, I use Essence Precise Eyeliner Brush to apply this gel. The eyeliner brush is angled and has soft bristles that makes it easier to define the eyebrows and as its soft so you can always build up and apply product to you satisfaction.
How to Apply?
Here are some very basic steps to achieve full, defined and natural looking brows using Essence Eyebrow Gel
Step 1: Outline the shape of your eyebrows using the eyebrow gel (or make an outline of desired shape, for a natural look follow your natural brow shape)
Step 2: Starting from the center of the brow to the end start filling sparse areas on your brows in the direction of your natural hair line to smooth stray hair and to keep them in place
Step 3: Work in the same way on the inner (start) of the brow, following the direction of the hair line. Run the product one more time with the brush on the entire brow to smooth it precisely and to even out the look.
That’s it, you have achieved WoW brows that are well-defined, full and perfectly natural-looking. Wasn’t that easy? I bet it is.
For a person like me who is new to brow gels, this Essence Eyebrow Gel is a great product to begin with. It’s budget friendly, priced at Rs. 560 and easily available at cosmetics stores and online makeup stores.
Eyebrows had been a neglected part of my makeup routine but not anymore. I’m loving this budget-friendly, delivers-what-it-says kind of a product by Essence.
You can check out their products on their website here and Facebook page here
Have you tried this eyebrow gel?

Beauty Crush: Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm Collection

It’s been a year since I started blogging and although I started as a food blogger, this year I thought of taking it to the next level. So in doing so I thought of adding new categories to my blog making it a blog of Food Recipes & More

The “More” aspect of the blog includes Reviews of different things I purchase or simply love, be it a Restaurant or a Beauty Product, a Kitchen find or a book. I thought of beginning these new categories with my favorite category Beauty Crush – beauty products that I love.

Ever since Maybelline introduced their Lip Balm collection, I just can’t get enough of them. It’s like I’m hooked to Maybelline Baby Lips, I love them (I’ve said it a lot of times now, I hope you got that). Its a must-have for me, they are moisturizing, smell good and come in different shades that adds a hint of color to your lips.

I’m a kind of person who uses a lip balm before applying lipstick and at times I don’t feel like applying a lipstick at all and those are the times when I thank Maybelline for introducing this collection. It gives me that hint of color, keeps my lips soft and brightens the face too. So when the new collection was out, I was convinced that I needed it. Also because this new collection Electro Lip Balm claimed to be No More Basic Lip Balm and 8hr Hydration with Neon Kick, it was a must-must-have!

I like the shades in pink so with the Electro Collection too I stayed with Pink Shock, which is a bright/ hot pink. It’s quite pigmented and you can wear it sheer or build up to get more color (I kind of keep it natural and don’t build up much). It keeps my lips moisturized not for 8HRs as claimed by Maybelline, but for a good 4HRs and keeps them soft all day long. It smells amazing too. It has other bright, neon colors too like Oh!Orange, Berry Bomb and Strike a Rose, and if you’re adventurous and can pull-off yellow and green lip shades then Fierce and Tangy and Minty Sheer are the shades for you.

As I love these, I find its packaging (pink on black) quite cute. Its a balm in a tube that makes it easy to carry (on-the-go) and with a few swipes you have bright lips and fresh face in an instant, isn’t that cool?

What is your favorite Lip Balm? Do you love Baby Lips too? Which is your favorite shade?
